Chuck Lamb, pianist & composer and wunderkind, founded the group
DRY JACK with which he released two internationally acclaimed albums of his music & was cited in ROLLING STONE HISTORY OF MUSIC as cutting edge jazz fusion. Chuck joined forces with vocalist & composer Theano, named best jazz musician -1993
in Westword Arts Weekly, was presented by the NYC Women’s Jazz Coalition as a remarkable new jazz artist and was a member of the NYC vocal jazz group RIFFS with Michael Abene and Kirk Nurock (music directors/arrangers).
Theano & Chuck Lamb have produced 11 albums of their original music along with 6 recording compilations including :
LAMBINIZATIONS II /a Tribute to Dave Brubeck, (given Dave’s stamp of approval ! .... see : press clips>Reviews) Their recordings have been released on Inner City, Fahrenheit, Synergy and SagaPaw (their own label).
Theano & Chuck Lamb & the stellar musicians that enhance their music, have garnered global acclaim for their unique & beautiful recordings as well as their spirited & inspired live performances, with accolades for creativity & expertise from Downbeat, Billboard, Keyboard, Cadence, N Y TIMES, New York POST & the LA TIMES ... the Rocky Mountain NEWS named As Above So Below, their third CD together, as the best self-produced CD of the year 1994.
There are no boundaries to their sound having played rock & soul, folk & pop, classical & ethnic extensively throughout their careers. Their original recordings are eclectic, fusing world rhythms with varied & infinite styles -based in improvisation- the spirit of jazz & the essence of freedom at the core.
They conduct the ONE VOICE CHOIR, a vocal and rhythm playshop & clinic and have been/are commissioned to write/record music for films, DVDs, pets, people, places & events. The latest film that they have composed original music for, YANGSI, was released this Fall and the companion CD, containing the music from and inspired by the Mark Elliot film (Crestonefilms.com), is now available.
Chuck Lamb is currently, for a decade, the pianist for the Brubeck Brothers Quartet with whom he released Classified on the Koch label in 2008 and Lifetimes on the Blue Forest label in 2012.
